was born in 1952, Hamburg. He was honoured for the best graduation diploma of the year in 1973 and thereby admitted to the Study Foundation of the German Nation. He studied medicine in London, Great Britain, and Hamburg, and habilitated on Neuroimmunology in 1990.

During 17 years at the University Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf, he accumulated a vast experience as neurological consultant for the departments of Internal Medicine, Visceral surgery, Traumatology, Cardiology, Cardiosurgery, Angiology, Urology, Oncology, Orthopedics, Gynecology, ENT, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, Neurosurgery, as well as the various IC-Units.

He was appointed Professor of Neurology in 1992 and remained Vice-Executive Director of the Neurological University Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf until he set up in private practice in 1998.

His scientific work includes over 100 presentations and publications in International Scientific Journals.
